25 years and counting.

Children begin by loving their parents, as they grow older they judge them, and sometimes they forgive them.

It has been almost 22 years since I was born and grew up under your care. Watching you getting the table done this afternoon reminded me of old times; where you had to rush in preparing lunch for us before going to work, left us notes for revision, and arranged clothes for sports in the evening. Sometimes, I even read the note with your exact modulation just to be sure that I will do the work. You’ve planted magic in my child's mind through certain words spoken with some thrilling quality of voice, some uplift of the heart and spirit.

There are two lasting bequests that parents can give their children; one is roots, and the other is wings. I on the other hand have always chosen wings albeit the consequences. Sometimes you weren't too happy with me but you still put up with me and took care of me nonetheless, attending to all my wants and needs.

Thank you for not giving up on me when you know the one thing children wear out faster than shoes are parents, and for never complaining about the load of burden that you have to carry. Also, thank you for always putting food on the table, for always giving allowance every month without fail, for always rewarding us for our good deeds, for all your sacrifices through thick and thin, and for being the responsible parents you both are.

Thank you, Mom.
Thank you, Dad.
Three small words.
So much to add.
For all your love
and your support
a million words
would be too short.
The words, "I love you"
seem too few
to express the love
I have for you.

Happy 25th Anniversary, Mom, Dad.

Ps. My first attempt in baking chicken pie for this special day :)
